About Melissa Pilgrim
Hi! My name is Melissa Pilgrim. I live in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and I am the author (meaning writer) of this story. I have been using my imagination to make up stories since I was five-years-old. I have written lots of plays, films, and books for children, teens, and adults.
I also ran a theatre in Chicago where children came to learn how to act and put on shows. We played theatre games and used our imaginations to pretend to be different things including many kinds of animals. It was so much fun that I turned one of those games into this book! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
About Ira V. Gates
Hi! My name is Ira V. Gates. I live in Pensacola, Florida and I am the illustrator (meaning artist) of this story. I loved to draw pictures when I was young and I knew I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. I have been a professional artist since I was in high school and my work has been in magazines, newspapers, and now this book! I also enjoy creating special pictures of people called “caricatures” like the ones I drew on this page.
I had a lot of fun drawing the pictures in this book. I hope you enjoy looking at them and they inspire you to keep your body and your imagination moving!
